The YouTuber Jonathan Morrison said he saw this unique setup "hit the internet this week" and, after trying it himself, filmed how well it works, for everyone to see. The iPad isn't technically running MacOS in this setup, but with a near-instantaneous connection between the tablet and the Mac Mini, and the fact all of the iPad features still work, this may be the closest we ever get to seeing MacOS actually running on an iPad.
While this setup has some obvious limitations, it gives you an idea of how well Mac software might work on an iPad, since this particular iPad Pro was running Mac software like Safari and Final Cut Pro using a traditional mouse and keyboard, though the touchscreen and Apple Pencil could still work too.
It's incredible to see it all actually perform the way you'd want it to, with no apparent lag, even though this type of iPad ability isn't officially sanctioned by Apple. I've owned an iPad since the third-generation model, the first with a Retina display.

Cook's comments echo those he shared with the Irish Independent in , when he said Apple is not interested in creating a "converged Mac and iPad. So we want to make the best tablet in the world and the best Mac in the world. And putting those two together would not achieve either. You'd begin to compromise in different ways. In , for example, it introduced Continuity features like Handoff and Universal Clipboard that enable more seamless experiences across Mac, iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch.

Then maybe he needs to stop pushing the iPad as a "computer". If he's adamant about keeping them apart, and they do have systematic benefits to themselves, then just stop with the nonsense of an iPad "What's a computer? I use my iPad pro on the go and it has it's limitations that I wouldn't get on my MacBook, although, I love the versatility of my iPad Pro so it has its own benefits as well. Well, they were originally against the stylus too, so It's already watered down, the Ipad isn't a computer. What's a computer? Make the screen detachable like an iPad. When you have it attached, it runs OSX. It would be the perfect computer. These aren't joke posts? Or do people seriously not see the difference in a device controlled and designed around a stylus on a resistive screen and an optional creative tool aimed at artists or students? THIS is what would result in trade-offs? Because their lineup is so seamless and elegant right now? It's a disparate collection of iterated-to-death products, each SKU mired with trade-offs of their own. Tim, stick to social causes and let someone with a passion and background for tech and product design set the course for a unified future vision.
One of the selling points of the first iPhone was "it runs OS X" later in the keynote it was revealed that it was running a "modified" version of OS X, but the link between the phone's OS and OS X was considered a crucial sticking point.
